Your Exposure to Bad News Stories Can Reduce Feelings Of Anxiety
In 2008 I carried out a study to research the impact of repeated negative messages in the media, specifically via radio, television and newpaper news articles on levels of anxiety, stress and feelings of general well being in individuals. I first became interested in this area long before qualifying as a therapist, when witnessing my young son’s responses to repeated images of the Twin Towers plane crashes which were shown after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The television coverage was repeated so often during the days following the attack that within a couple of days, he was convinced that hundreds of planes had crashed into hundreds of buildings and had found this highly distressing. Obviously, once I realized this, I switched off the TV and explained that this was not an everyday occurrence, but because “everyone was so upset” about the incident, it had been repeated on TV over and over again.
The study concluded that individuals suffering from stress who expose themselves to media through out the day may benefit from switching off TV's and radios which repeat (mainly negative) news stories on an average cycle every 15-20 minutes.
I was awarded the National Council For Hypnotherapy's Researcher Of The Year Award for this piece of work which also formed the basis of my dissertation for my Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy.
Weight Loss With Hypnotherapy
Before trying hypnotherapy for weight management many of my clients have tried "every diet under the sun". The diet works for a while, but often when they stop, the lost weight returns, often with more into the bargain. Diets are problematical in my view, because they encourage you to think about food all the time, whereas, weight loss with hypnotherapy helps you to change your habits naturally, slowly and permanently, until healthy eating, and an active life become the most natural thing in the world. Then you can continue to use hypnotherapy for weight management, because you have all the tools and techniques used by weight loss hypnotherapists.

My hypnotherapy for weight management sessions help you focus upon the results you want, rather than using charts and scales to dictate your weight and shape. Achieving weight loss with hypnotherapy is very simple; we work on understanding the eating and exercise habits which have caused you to gain weight and then develop new strategies and behaviours which are designed to help you achieve your goals. This may be a simple as eating more slowly, listening to the signals your body is sending you or becoming more aware of other needs that you are trying to meet by eating such as overcoming boredom. So your habits gradually change, you start to experience weight loss and hypnotherapy continues to help you by reinforcing the benefits you are achieving and strengthening your resolve.
What Can I Expect To Happen At A Weight Loss With Hypnotherapy Session?
Your initial weight loss and hypnotherapy session is an opportunity to discuss your goals. We will also explore your relationship with food, in order to identify problem habits such as eating when not hungry, eating quickly, eating for comfort etc so that your weight loss with hypnotherapy sessions can be targeted specifically at the issues which will make a difference for YOU. For many people, change begins to happen from their first session - and you are likely to find you surprise yourself by your changing habits and strengthening will power. Although we do not pre-determine the number of sessions needed, for weight loss and hypnotherapy, most people need around four sessions, within which time, you learn self hypnosis.
